Wine drinkers baulk at hint of Alaska

An organic wine from Chile is losing sales in San Francisco thanks to its name – Palin Syrah. Ever since Sarah Palin entered the US’s political race to the White House, drinkers in the liberal city have shunned the wine which coincidentally bears her name. In Texas, a Republican stronghold, it’s flying off the shelves.

Government helps Australian grape growers to leave industry

Australian Prime Minister Kevin Rudd has announced an irrigation scheme for farmers on the Murray River, which will allow them to leave their industry without necessarily walking off their land. Nearly 60% of the farmers in this region are grape growers.

Fine wine beats credit crunch

French wineries hire American to reverse slipping sales

Sopexa USA has thrown $2.6m into a new ‘umbrella campaign’' through its promotional arm, Wines of France, to hold 700 tastings at more than 300 wine shops throughout the US.
